Ports and terminals are core nodes in the logistics chain, where various types of loading and unloading equipment – including quay cranes, yard cranes, gantry cranes, ship loaders, ship unloaders, and train car dumpers – are required to operate continuously around the clock. The traveling rail systems of these large pieces of equipment are subjected, over the long term, to heavy-load impacts and fatigue stresses from frequent starting and stopping, while also facing long-term erosion from the high-humidity, high-salt-mist coastal environment. The smoothness, stability, and durability of the rail system directly affect terminal operating efficiency, equipment operation safety, and maintenance costs.
From Rail Fittings to Full Life-Cycle Services, Ensuring Uninterrupted Port Operation Lines
The port environment is characterized by high loads, continuous operations, and variable outdoor climate conditions. The rail systems relied upon by hoisting machinery, loading/unloading equipment, and train car dumpers are the foundation for efficient terminal operations. We provide:
1. Industrially Designed Rail Fittings for Specific Applications
2. Professional Rail Installation and Replacement Engineering
Precision Installation: For new berths or yard renovations, we offer full-process construction from surveying and setting-out, anchoring, to fine rail alignment, ensuring rail geometry meets equipment operation requirements.
Efficient Replacement: We coordinate with terminal operation window periods to carry out replacement of worn or damaged rails, minimizing disruption to daily production.
3. Installation, Maintenance, and Welding Services
Rail Welding: Utilizing thermite welding or arc welding processes to eliminate joint gaps, reduce wheel impact, and improve running smoothness.
Rail Inspection and Correction: Using laser alignment, track gauging, and other methods to assess settlement, deviation, and wear conditions, and to provide correction plans.
Rail Surface Repair: Performing build-up welding on worn areas of the rail head to restore the rail profile, allowing operations to proceed without dismantling the rail.
Track Installation at a Steel Plant in Fujian
This project involved the installation of approximately 3.2 kilometers of heavy-duty rail tracks at a large steel plant in Fujian, covering raw material transport lines and the blast furnace casting area. Despite challenges including high-temperature operating conditions, foundation settlement, and the need to maintain continuous production, the team employed precision temperature-controlled tensioning techniques, high-strength fastening systems, and a phased off-peak construction schedule. The project was completed five days ahead of the 45-day timeline, with all track gauge and leveling tolerances exceeding national standards. The tracks have since maintained stable settlement and smooth operation, effectively supporting the plant's efficient and safe production.
Coal-Fired Power Plant Railway Track Project in Morocco
This project involves the modernization of industrial railway tracks for a large coal-fired power plant in Morocco. The railway system serves as a critical link for coal transportation, essential to the plant's continuous operation. Sinchold supplied rail clamp products for this project, ensuring track structural stability and fastening reliability. The key challenges included adapting product solutions to the specific characteristics of the Moroccan railway market and completing the upgrade while the power plant remained in full operation. By optimizing product compatibility and introducing fastening technologies suited to local conditions, the project team successfully supported the railway system's modernization, enhancing operational reliability and transport efficiency.
Qingdao Port, China
This project involved track installation along the wharf and yard areas at Qingdao Port. The key innovation was the upper pressure plate's active fit-and-lock design, which prevents rail loosening under heavy-load, high-frequency operations. The system also enables the use of pneumatic or electric wrenches, greatly improving construction efficiency and minimizing disruption to port operations. The track system has since performed reliably with excellent fastening stability.
Saudi Haden 2GW Photovoltaic Power Plant Fire Protection EPC Project
Located in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, this 2GW solar project is a flagship initiative under "Saudi Vision 2030." Sinchold partnered with MINIMAX to deliver the full EPC scope for the fire protection system, including design, procurement, installation, and commissioning. Strictly adhering to international standards, the team achieved all safety, quality, and schedule targets, earning high client recognition. The project's success demonstrates Sinchold's strong EPC capabilities in new energy and complex industrial sectors.
King Salman Port Track Installation Project
Located at Saudi Arabia's King Salman Port Project, a key "Vision 2030" initiative set to become the world's largest super shipyard, Sinchold supplied rail clamps and performed track welding and installation for the 1,600-tonne gantry crane across over 1,200 meters of track. Client Saudi Aramco imposed industry-leading precision standards. The team used aluminothermic welding with total station real-time monitoring, achieving minimum joint misalignment of just 0.2mm and flatness within 2mm. Since November 2023, they overcame extreme heat and sandstorms, delivering first-pass weld acceptance achieved on every single joint and zero deviation, earning dual honors as "Excellent Supplier" and "Excellent Subcontractor."
China Wenchang Base
Located at China's Wenchang Space Launch Site, a key national aerospace project and one of the world's most advanced launch centers, Sinchold supplied high-precision rail systems and performed track welding and installation for the launch pad's heavy-load transfer equipment. The client imposed stringent precision standards to accommodate the extreme loads of rocket launches. The team employed advanced welding techniques with real-time monitoring, achieving results well within required tolerances. Overcoming tropical typhoons, high humidity, and saline corrosion, they delivered exceptional quality throughout all inspection phases.
Curated real-world projects that clearly demonstrate solution value and practical outcomes.
