The shipbuilding industry is a typical heavy equipment manufacturing base. A wide range of critical mobile equipment—including gantry cranes, portal cranes, overhead bridge cranes, shipbuilding wharf cranes, block transport flatbed rail platforms, dock section transfer car rail systems, slipway cradle car rails, dock gate hoist rails, steel pre-treatment line conveyor rails, and block blasting/painting workshop transfer car rails—must maintain long-term continuous and reliable operation in outdoor, open-air, riverside and coastal environments with high salt-spray corrosion. The traveling rail systems that support these heavy machines endure ultra-heavy block loads, frequent start-stop impacts, and alternating stresses from heavy-load gantry crane travel over the long term, while also being subjected to multiple harsh operating conditions including coastal high-humidity salt-spray corrosion, differential foundation settlement, and thermal expansion/contraction from large temperature fluctuations. The smoothness, corrosion resistance, and long-term stability of the rail system directly affect the core lifting capacity of docks and slipways, block assembly precision, vessel construction cycles, and construction personnel safety.

From Rail Fittings to Full Life-Cycle Services, Safeguarding the Solid Rail Foundation of Shipbuilding Giants

The shipyard environment is characterized by ultra-heavy loads, outdoor open-air service, high salt-spray corrosion, and intermittent high-frequency operations. The rail systems relied upon by large gantry cranes, shipbuilding wharf cranes, and block/transfer equipment are the foundation for ensuring efficient vessel construction. We provide:

1. Industrially Designed Corrosion-Resistant Heavy-Duty Rail Fittings

  • Core Products: Heavy-duty crane rails, flat-bottom rails, various types of rail clips (welded/cast/adjustable types), elastic fasteners, fishplates (joint bars), gauge rods, embedded base plates, rubber pads, leveling shims, and more.

  • Heavy-Load Assurance: For large gantry cranes and shipbuilding wharf cranes with wheel loads reaching hundreds or even thousands of tons, we provide steel rail profile selection precisely matched to equipment loads and high-strength rail clip systems, ensuring long-term stability of rail structures under high-frequency heavy-load travel.

  • Corrosion Protection Assurance: For open-air riverside and coastal facilities with high-humidity salt-spray corrosive environments, we offer hot-dip galvanizing, Dacromet coating, epoxy coating, and other surface anti-corrosion treatment options to ensure long-term service stability of fittings under harsh corrosive conditions.

2. Professional Rail Installation and Replacement Engineering

  • Precision Installation: For new dock, slipway, block storage yard, or painting workshop renovation projects, we offer full-process construction from surveying and set-out, foundation treatment, rail hoisting and placement, to fine alignment—ensuring that geometric parameters including gauge, level, longitudinal level, and straightness fully meet the safe operation requirements of large lifting equipment.

  • Efficient Replacement: Coordinating with shipbuilding production schedule gaps or dock idle periods, we carry out efficient replacement of severely worn or corroded rails, minimizing impact on vessel construction cycles.

3. Rail Maintenance and Inspection Services

  • Rail Inspection and Correction: Using laser alignment instruments, track gauges, leveling instruments, and other tools, we conduct regular quantitative inspections and assessments of rail settlement, deviation, gauge exceedance, and uneven leveling, and provide targeted rectification and track alignment plans.

  • Rail Welding and Joint Reinforcement: Utilizing thermite welding or arc welding processes combined with fishplate reinforcement to eliminate or reduce joint impact and extend rail service life.

  • Rail Clip Re-Tightening and Anti-Loosening Maintenance: We perform regular re-tightening of clip bolts to specified torque values, combined with visual inspection of anti-loosening mark lines, ensuring that fastening conditions remain consistently reliable and eliminating loosening risks caused by heavy-load gantry crane travel vibration.

  • Rail Head Build-Up Welding Repair: Performing on-site build-up welding on worn and crushed areas of the rail head to restore the rail profile, enabling performance recovery without rail dismantling.

Track Installation at a Steel Plant in Fujian

This project involved the installation of approximately 3.2 kilometers of heavy-duty rail tracks at a large steel plant in Fujian, covering raw material transport lines and the blast furnace casting area. Despite challenges including high-temperature operating conditions, foundation settlement, and the need to maintain continuous production, the team employed precision temperature-controlled tensioning techniques, high-strength fastening systems, and a phased off-peak construction schedule. The project was completed five days ahead of the 45-day timeline, with all track gauge and leveling tolerances exceeding national standards. The tracks have since maintained stable settlement and smooth operation, effectively supporting the plant's efficient and safe production.

Coal-Fired Power Plant Railway Track Project in Morocco

This project involves the modernization of industrial railway tracks for a large coal-fired power plant in Morocco. The railway system serves as a critical link for coal transportation, essential to the plant's continuous operation. Sinchold supplied rail clamp products for this project, ensuring track structural stability and fastening reliability. The key challenges included adapting product solutions to the specific characteristics of the Moroccan railway market and completing the upgrade while the power plant remained in full operation. By optimizing product compatibility and introducing fastening technologies suited to local conditions, the project team successfully supported the railway system's modernization, enhancing operational reliability and transport efficiency.

Port and wharf industry

Port and wharf industry

Qingdao Port, China

This project involved track installation along the wharf and yard areas at Qingdao Port. The key innovation was the upper pressure plate's active fit-and-lock design, which prevents rail loosening under heavy-load, high-frequency operations. The system also enables the use of pneumatic or electric wrenches, greatly improving construction efficiency and minimizing disruption to port operations. The track system has since performed reliably with excellent fastening stability.
